Uros Amantani Taquile 2D Tours

DAY 1.- UROS (FLOATING ISLANDS) – AMANTANI ISLAND.

First, we will visit the ancient culture of the Uros and the famous Floating Island. Additionally, the islanders will give us a presentation about their lifestyle on their islands made by the inhabitants. Therefore, they were built with totora reeds that grow along the shores of the lake. Consequently, here we will learn about their existence on these small islands and how they have adapted to their conditions.

Subsequently, continuing with our tour around the lake, we arrive at Amantani Island. Soon, we will meet with the Quechua families who will offer us a cozy homestay-style accommodation. They will also prepare traditional food for lunch. After that, we will make a short ascent to the two peaks of the island while observing the daily lifestyle of the local people. Then, at the top of the island, we will visit two ancient pre-Inca temples, Pachatata and Pachamama (father and mother cosmos). As a result, at night, after dinner, community members will celebrate a small welcome party for us.

DAY 2.- TAQUILE – PUNO

Then, after breakfast in Amantani, we will board the boat again to make the short trip to the neighboring island of Taquile. Once arrived, we will climb the beautiful stone trails to the community, a small and quite shy population. Additionally, it is a culture full of art and tradition. Furthermore, the town of Taquile is cheerful and proud of its origin and culture, happy to share with us the beautiful living environment of the island in the immense Lake Titicaca.
