Itinerary
THE FLOATING ISLANDS OF UROS
First, our departure to the Uros and Taquile Islands begins at 7:30 am from your hotel. Soon, we will head in private transportation to the main dock or port. Then, at 7:45 am, we begin the journey to the floating islands of the Uros. Currently considered the Titicaca Lake National Reserve. Also, known as the highest navigable lake in the world. During the trip, we can observe a beautiful panoramic view and enjoy the landscape. Therefore, our expert guide will inform you about the existence of the Uros Floating Islands.
Furthermore, currently, the people of the Uros still keep their culture and tradition alive. For example, artisanal fishing, especially the (CARACHI) and pejerrey. As a result, when fishing is abundant, the fish are dried in the sun. Additionally, they are dedicated to hunting wild birds and collecting duck eggs. On the other hand, there are 75 islands that are still inhabited today, and each island is well organized. Later, after the beautiful visit, we will bid farewell to the Uros. Our next visit will be to the natural island of TAQUILE.
THE NATURAL ISLAND OF TAQUILE
To reach our next visit in our tour of the Uros and Taquile Islands, we will navigate by boat for 2 and a half hours towards the nature and beauty of Taquile Island. During the navigation, we can observe the Cadena Mountain (the Cordillera Real). The people of Taquile are very cooperative and well organized. This is why the Taquileans have demonstrated their high degree of advancement in textile work, receiving their award from UNESCO.
It should be noted that spinning and weaving are carried out mainly by men, starting at the age of eight. Women only make threads and fabrics. Life in Taquile continues to maintain its lifestyle despite modernity. The visit will last an average of 2 hours, and we will have 1 hour to try a delicious typical lunch. If you wish to support and be part of this community, you can volunteer by buying some of their handicrafts.
By doing this, we provide this community with some means of sustainability and in this way, we contribute to their ability to continue sharing their culture and existence in future times. Finally, we will continue our return journey towards the city of Puno, arriving at 5:00 pm.
VERY IMPORTANT: This excursion begins at your hotel when we pick you up, and will end at your hotel when we drop you off.
