Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric Station

The tour begins at 6:30 am as we head to OLLANTAYTAMBO, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the area. Here, we will make a brief stop of approximately 20 minutes. Then, we continue the journey with a winding ascent toward the MÁLAGA PASS, located at an altitude of 4,316 m.a.s.l. At this point, we can observe the most wonderful landscapes of Peruvian geography. We will stop for a few minutes to take impressive photos of the area, and after this brief stop, we begin the descent into the jungle, passing through various altitudinal levels that combine paradisiacal landscapes from majestic snow-capped mountains to the warm Inca jungle. Until reaching the altitude of SANTA MARÍA, located at 1,575 m.a.s.l., where the road from the city of Cusco is in perfect condition, completely paved.

Once we reach the town of Santa María, we will drive on an unpaved but well-maintained road to the town of SANTA TERESA, located at an altitude of 1,500 m.a.s.l. Here, a delicious lunch will be waiting for us with a variety of food options for the customer’s taste. After lunch, we will continue driving for about 40 more minutes to finally arrive at the Machu Picchu Hydroelectric Station (arrival approximately 3:00 pm).

The company’s staff will be waiting for us there to start the hike towards the town of AGUAS CALIENTES. This hike lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes through the Inca jungle, where we can already see the majestic Machu Picchu Citadel, Huayna Picchu, and a variety of flora and fauna. At approximately 5:45 pm, we will arrive in Aguas Calientes, where you will receive your accommodations in the hostel. You can then enjoy your free time visiting Aguas Calientes or the thermal baths in town. At around 8:00 pm, we will enjoy a delicious dinner, during which you will receive a briefing from the guide who will lead the tour of the Machu Picchu Citadel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu Citadel

Early in the morning, we will head to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary.

If you wish, you can hike for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, or you can buy bus tickets to the sanctuary, which takes about 30 minutes. The group will meet at the main entrance of Machu Picchu between 6:00 am and 6:30 am. After registering our group, we will enter and have a two-hour guided tour visiting the most important places within the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. After this, you will have free time to explore other areas on your own. At approximately 12:00 pm, the group must leave the Machu Picchu Sanctuary to start the walk back to the hydroelectric station, where our vehicles will be waiting for us.

The return journey to Cusco will depart between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm, arriving in Cusco around 9:00 pm.
