The Vinicunca Mountain, better known as the Rainbow Mountain, is one of the most impressive mountains of the Apu Ausangate. Vinicunca has now become the second most visited destination in Peru, after Machu Picchu.
Itinerary
Rainbow Mountain Full Day
The 7 Colors Mountain Hike or Tour: The adventure begins very early at 4:30 am as we start picking you up from your various hotels until 5:00 am. We will then head to the picturesque town of Chirihuani in the Cusipata district (Quispicanchi) south of the city of Cusco, where we will stop to enjoy a delicious semi-buffet breakfast.
Then, we will return to our minibus to head to Phullapatawasi, the starting point of our hike. We will begin our hike for 1 hour and 30 minutes, uphill until we reach the foothills of the RED VALLEY (Vinicunca hill), the access point to this mystical place.
We will walk along a trail that gradually changes the landscape between mountains of intense colors and small streams of icy water that feed and give life to this valley. As we walk, we will observe how the colors around us change with the climate, reaching an altitude of 5,020 meters above sea level, at the summit of the mysterious 7 Colors Mountain (Vinicunca).
This will be the point where we will have enough time to take photos, videos, etc. After this amazing experience, we will begin our return hike to Phullapatawasi where we will board the minibus that will take us to Cusipata where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. We will then return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 pm, thus concluding our hike to the 7 Colors Mountain.
OPTIONAL: You have the option of renting a horse if you prefer not to walk or if you feel tired. Round trip is 80 soles.
